Embrace Your Age: Unveiling the Fun Side of Anti-Aging Practices in Your 30s
The power of feeling good about yourself transcends any age, but after 30 I threw caution to the wind and embraced my vanity full throttle.
I’m a Girly Girl’s Gworl, GIRL! I love all things beauty, makeup, hair, fashion, serums, creams, potions, lotions & practices. I take Look Good Feel Good to heart and for some it’s a tad extra. But if they’re thinking that, then they’re basic and I’m not here to appease, just empower ;) I give you all the permission to experiment, research, purchase, and proudly don any product, garment, or service that is going to bring you max joy, and confidence. I shamelessly admit I’m a proponent for injectables and I’m due for more Botox here soon. I’ve tried Filler once in my lips to achieve more symmetry and I loved the results. I’ve had liposuction and I’ve been dying my hair since I was 12 because my natural hair color is drab. See. I told you, shameless!
My main focus, when it comes to my vanity, has been skincare and restoration. Since turning 30 my skin went topsy turvy and so did my hormones, which then led to adult acne, discoloration, hyperpigmentation, dullness, redness, inflammation, you name it-my skin had been through it! Random hairs popping up on my chin-HEY! How’d you get there, and why are you so thick?! Experiencing 30 Pause in my early 30s was making me start to feel 30 kinds of ick! With a little help from my friends and understanding what exactly was happening with this “2nd wave of puberty” (as one Gyno of mine described it), I had to seriously Pause and refocus on what I could do to make me feel good which in turn makes me look good, because if I’m feeling good, then I must look good, right?! At this point, I’m not sure which one triggers which, but you pick up what I’m putting down. Ergo, I now make sure my morning and nightly routines are a non-negotiable and that they’re giving and not taking- Meaning it’s not taking 25 minutes and 9 steps for said regimen, and I don’t want it to take up too much counter and cupboard space. I shared on the 30 Pause Instagram my new fave facial oil. My love affair with Mr. Joe will never tire. Not after this!
I vote you make yourself a cup of tea, put on a comfy PJ & robe, start running the hot water, turn on a little Sade, and just do you honey. With each step, and serum, give your face and skin the love it deserves. Appreciate the imperfections and adore yourself with positive affirmations. In 30 Pause mindfully aging is a new concept to us, go and do what you're comfortable with, but know that aging gracefully means appreciating every stage of life. Ask yourself what you really want to focus on and why. I believe prioritizing rituals positively impacts your mental health and emotional wellbeing. This all may sound a little delulu, but it’s changed the way I sleep, and show up in this world and for me that’s all that matters. Peep my latest 30 Pause reel on IG and engage in the poll, let me know- how’s your relationship to Vanity and aging in 30 Pause?
In the words of our dear Mother Ru Paul, “If you can't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?”
XO,
Heather
